Power for scoops and folded horns

An 18" driver specified for loaded cabinets: 1800W RMS and 3600W max into 8Ω, a 115 mm (4.5") inside/outside copper voice coil on a glass fibre former, a ferrite motor, a double spider and a die-cast aluminium basket. £345 per driver.

We import it direct from the factory rather than through a distributor, which is how it comes in at 19.2p per rated watt. A 4Ω version is available on request, and full Thiele/Small data is available on request for anyone modelling a box.

4.5" copper coil

Inside/outside copper winding on a glass fibre former. A larger coil has more surface area to shed heat, which limits power compression on long sets.

2× spider

Double spider

Two spiders instead of one keep the coil centred in the gap at high excursion and under the back-pressure of a loaded cabinet.
